Acupuncturist / Traditional Chinese Medicine
James Mutkin is a qualified acupuncturist, holding a Bachelor of Medicine from Beijing University in addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
James is passionate about his profession and the clients he treats. He believes in continual development and furthering himself as a teacher and practitioner by bringing together traditional theory, clinical understanding, and current research.
James sees Chinese medicine as a holistic healthcare model which focuses on all aspects of the body, its structure and internal functioning and the mind-body connections. The art of Chinese medicine is in its ability to bring together nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, meditation and breathing (Qigong), exercise (Tai Chi), and massage (Tui Na). The practice of which is the art of health preservation and the essence of Chinese medicine.
James also specialises in obstetrics and gynaecology, skin disorders, injuries and pain management, and has helped set up and run maternity and fertility support clinics within the NHS, as well as being involved in a number of both private and NHS pain clinics.
James is on the Professional Conduct Committee for the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ATCM), the largest professional regulatory body for traditional Chinese medicine in the UK, and is a member of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM).
Medical Masseur and Physiotherapist

Heshmat joins the Wellness team at ESPA Life at Corinthia as a Medical Masseuse and Physiotherapist. He is a HCPC registered physiotherapist and a member of the CSP, and holds a Physiotherapy degree from Iran and a Physiotherapy MSc from University of East London.
Heshmat’s professional experience includes musculoskeletal and neurological physiotherapy in hospitals, private clinics and community-based settings. His experience also extends to holistic screening and assessment and treatment of patients of varying ages with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, including low back pain, neck pain, post-operative rehabilitation, scoliosis, fractures, degenerative joint disease, whiplash injury, congenital anomalies, sport injuries, spinal cord and head injuries, stroke (CVA), MS and peripheral nerve injuries.
Within his work Heshmat uses different physiotherapy interventions to relieve pain, increase range of movement, strengthen muscles and improve function appropriate to the patient’s condition. This includes the use of electrotherapy modalities (faradic and interferential current, TENS machine and ultrasound), hydrotherapy, rehabilitative exercise therapy, manual therapy techniques, spinal traction, manipulation, soft tissue mobilisation, orthotic and assistive devices prescription, PNF techniques, as well as gait and balance training.

Angel Gonzalez is our Lead Wellness Therapist at ESPA Life at Corinthia. Angel has a degree in Sports Massage & Sport Tapping, Therapeutic Massage, and has a Master’s degree in Lymphatic Drainage, Feet Reflexology and Cyriax (Deep Transverse Massage).
Angel has been working with ESPA in some of their most prestigious spas around the world including Morocco, Italy, Thailand, and Spain, practicing a combination of ancient holistic therapies including mindfulness and modern methods to heal the body’s muscular-skeletal and nervous systems. Angel also focuses on injury recovery, tendon and joint diseases, pre and post-surgery care, and lymphatic inflammations. Angel’s approach to wellbeing is both physical and psychological, taking into account psychological trauma and sleep problems caused by everyday stress. His treatment takes patients through a mindful awareness process including guided meditation, visualisation and reiki.
His approach to the body involves a handcrafted combination of deep Neuromuscular and Energy Acupressure, Thai and Sport Stretching, Skeletal Decompression, Deep Myofascial Massage, Scar Tissue Massage, Sport Medical Massage, Reflexology and Zen Shiatsu, Sport Tapping and Banding.
Approaching the mind from a Mindful view point, Angel helps improve the breathing capacity using Pranayama Respiration, combined with different types of healing meditation, including Yoga Nidra Meditation and Reiki.

Sally Barrat RCST
Sally gained her qualifications from the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy and specialises in an integrated approach using both mechanical and biodynamic methods of treatment. Her interest is in prenatal psychology and how trauma affects the body. Sally has a refined sensitivity to deeply connect with people, wherever they are at in their lives, offering space for clients to get back in touch with their core. Her client base is varied, working with babies, children and adults with both acute and chronic condition.
Prior to qualifying as a craniosacral therapist, Sally supported stroke survivors with communication difficulties and was a listening volunteer at the Samaritans for those going though crisis. Sally believes that the body holds a wisdom to maintain and promote health, and that with the right support, a listening hand and a grounded witness, transformation can occur.
Offering the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity, Sally is a member of and abides by the codes of ethics of the Craniosacral Therapy Association and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and is committed to continuing professional development.
Aside from her work as a therapist she is an avid practitioner of Iyengar Yoga and is currently undertaking a teacher training program. This also feeds into her work and improves her understanding of the mind-body complex.
